Welcome - here is the May 2024 edition of the newsletter. It is Beltane week - I hope you all manage a ritual of some sort to celebrate. Traditionally celebrated on May 1st there's still plenty of time to do something as the astrological point of Beltane is on Sunday morning at 1.10am.
If you have subscribed in the last month - welcome - and thank you to those of you who have donated cups of tea via the Ko-fi site - they help keep the lights lit.
Event news . . . in date order . . .
The next Shamanic Sunday online is this coming 5th May (10am to 12.30pm) - you can book a place on the website here.
The new group god gatherings, a regular group to contemplate our notions of god, had its inaugural meeting last month. It was quite enlightening - please come and see for yourself. The next one is Tuesday 21st May (6 - 8pm) - online - bookings and more information here.
Astrology Consultations - standard birth chart readings and in-depth astrology consultations - details on the website here.
Horary Consultations - chart readings for important individual questions.
Coming in the autumn
The Constant Cosmos - a 30 week online course delving into your own astrological birth chart in order to connect with the cosmos . . . it is designed for beginners and those who know a little about astrology. It will be designed around learning how to explore your own personal astrology and the way in which, as a continuum, we are always at one with the cosmos. There will be an emphasis on 'orientation' and 'perception' to help you navigate the work and a strong emphasis on traditional astrology to appreciate its divine harmony, symmetry and art - traditional astrology comes from a time when astrology and astronomy where not considered separate from one another.
The course will be made up of 30 sessions divided into 3 terms with a half term break in each. It will take place on Wednesday evenings 6 - 8pm starting on Wednesday 2nd October 2024. Places will be limited and each session will be recorded so that you can catch up if you can't make a particular session. I hope to have a page up on the website by the next newsletter in June and you will be able to book a place then.

Wooded floor pulsing with electric bluebells
Last month I gave a talk to the Wyvern Questers & Dowsers in Wiltshire. It was called The Constant Cosmos and was an outline of how I had experienced the profound effects of elements of the cosmos as they aligned within my natal chart.
If you've been reading the newsletter over the last couple of months you'll know roughly how the talk evolved. However, I began with something very different . . . Schumann Resonances. The group, of course, knew of these resonances but so that you, the reader, knows what I'm going on about, here is a brief explanation.
Schumann Resonances

The Schumann Resonances are global electromagnetic resonances which are generated by lightning discharges between our Earth's surface and the ionosphere, this being the outer later of our earth's atmosphere before it becomes what we consider to be space. I find it quite difficult to explain them as I'm not a scientist but the main resonance, of 7.83 HZ, is likened to our Earth's heart beat. Imagine that, our Earth has a heart beat, or maybe a pulse. Meanwhile, the alpha waves that human brains emit have the same frequency and so our brains pulse in tune with our earth, we have the same frequency.
Now anyone who believes we are earthly beings rather than aliens on a rock will see that as obvious . . . and synchronous and beautiful. After all, the alpha wave frequency controls our creativity, performance, stress, anxiety and immune system and many are suggesting that when our earth is stressed, then so are we . . . and vice versa. There are also many who are saying there is absolutely no scientific evidence to support these claims. The age old battle of whether something is fact or fiction.

God song
In 2011 Luke Montagnier was studying water memory experiments and found that DNA sequences communicate in water by transmitting low frequency electro magnetic waves, even when separated in different test tubes. They are so sophisticated that they can produce nucleotides, the ingredient of life itself. He found that when the frequency of 7.83Hz was removed, the experiments failed. That is, life was not present.
It seems to me that without these electro magnetic waves the pulse of life cannot exist. So we have a planet, Earth, with a pulse which is reflected in our brain waves and in the very formation of life itself. I'd like to call it god song.

Other planets
Of course once I had thought a little more on this my mind leapt out into the cosmos and I wanted to know if the other planets in our solar system had ionospheres - planets have to have an atmosphere to create a cavity where an electrical charge can disperse with the planet. Obviously there are no measurements available to prove this, that would rely on science which hasn't got that far yet, but other planets do have atmospheres and so the possibility that they 'pulse' as well suggests that they are 'alive', perhaps with their own god song, or at least resonating in some way. All of this because of our Sun, the star that 'cooks' the gasses in our Earth's ionosphere making ions.

Solar activity
Our Sun's activity is based on an 11 year cycle and we are currently in a solar maximum period which is expected to peak this year and next (solar cycle 25). You would expect that the Schumann Resonances are likely to be more active during these times and it seems they are . . . and it explains why most of the UK has been able to see the aurora borealis recently.
Strangely Schumann, of Schumann Resonances fame, was born in 1888 and the year before in 1987 another man called Alexander Chizhevsky was born. Chizhevsky used historical research techniques to link the 11-year solar cycle, Earth’s climate, and the mass activity of peoples. He fought in WW1 where he observed directly that battles tended to wax and wane with the strength of solar flares and geomagnetic storms during the concurrent height of solar cycle 15. Sadly, his work contradicted theories of the revolution and Stalin put him into a gulag for eight years and he then had to suffer eight years of Soviet rehabilitation. Poor man and what a waste.
What Chizhevsky showed was that we, as individuals and in groups, are affected by solar cycles. When the Schumann Resonances, or pulse, of our Earth is heightened then so too are we and everything we do as individuals and as a collective.
The same can be said for other planets within our solar system . . . although we simply don't have the evidence. It is all speculation. The sort of speculation I like. It resonates with my alpha waves and you could argue that when the Schumann Resonances are more intense, so too is our creativity, our performance, stress, anxiety and immune system. An increase in god song might explain all these conversions to Christianity and other religious practices. It might also explain physiological symptoms such as migraines - I had a headache on Tuesday morning when the Schumann Resonance were particularly strong, or heightened.
Another fixed star

The fixed star Skat, also known as Delta Aquarii on the right shin of Aquarius.
As, in my thinking, our whole cosmos affects us, I believe that fixed stars have an effect on us, more like a homeopathic drop in the ocean and certainly not measurable in any scientific way. They are stars, like our Sun, and emit solar flares.
If you read the last newsletter you'll remember I wrote about two fixed stars prominent in my natal chart, one called Acrux associated with astrology, spirituality, metaphysics and sacrifice and the other Schedir associated with astrology and mysticism. I have found another fixed star that resonates in my birth chart. This one is called Skat (also known as Delta Aquarii) and is considered to be between 4.5 and 6 times bigger than our sun - plenty of god song potential from that one then. It is conjunct my natal Jupiter, planet of expansion, faith and optimism. Skat, when conjunct Jupiter, is associated with a philosophical, occult or religious mind - of course it is.
I feel like I'm being led down a path with which I am in total resonance. I've always been a little wary of psychic and occult interests but as I have researched a little more I realise that both words have come to be associated with the negative side of what they really mean. Psychic comes from the Greek psychikos which means 'of the mind' or 'mental' . . . and it also means 'soul'. Occult, on the other hand, means 'hidden'. This suggests to me that it can never be explained as it is always 'hidden' and therefore often misunderstood.
It makes so much sense when I put all the 'evidence' together. We are born with a resonance to our cosmos and astrology is its god song.

Books, that matter, made with paper

The Sun, Moon and Clock book is about the cycles of the sun, moon and clock to which our bodies are accustomed. It is designed to help bring humans back into balance with our Earth, to see the natural rhythms of our immediate world as it is turned by the sun, moon and clock. The paperback version is £15 (includes P&P) - the eBook is £5.99 on the website or on Amazon as a Kindle for £6.99.
Birdfolk, on the other hand, is a chapbook of poems about, and for, the birds. The perspective changes, from bird to human and back again and will hopefully surprise and delight you in equal measure. It is only available as a limited edition (100) and signed chapbook - £12.99 (includes P&P).
Both books are available under the Books drop down menu on the website and if you'd like to avoid the automated money system you can buy them using bank transfer by sending me an email.
